Today we got up and breakfasted and had a little bit of time before we picked our bits into the van and made our way to our next location. This gave me a little bit of time to wrestle my suitcase shut! (Something I won't miss when I get home!).
Our first stop of the day was to the Squamish Lil'Wat Cultural centre where we found out about some of the First Nations customs and their lifestyles. Our guide was from the Squamish community and took us on a tour of the museum, log and pit houses, he walked us around a nature trail so we could leanrs about the uses of different plants and then we enjoyed some traditional healing teas and some traditional cake! (Sorry I can't remember the name of this, but it was a little bit like a doughnut so I was happy!).
After our tea ceremony we had a little bit of time to explore the museum ourselves before getting back in the bus and making our way towards the ferry. We stopped at the Brandywine Falls where we took a stroll to see the fall and take some pictures.
From here we jumped back in the van and went to Porteau Cove park where we had a spot of lunch and explored the rocky beach and saw some Canada Geese and also some barnacles and mussels.
After lunch we continued to the ferry crossing and where we caught the ferry to Nanaimo. On the journey we stayed out on the deck in the hope of seeing something but all we caught sight of were logs and birds. So after spending the majority of the journey on the deck we rejoined the group and warmed up with a hot chocolate.
Once we arrived in Nanaimo we drove to Victoria (the capital of British Columbia) where we checked in (I have my own room tonight!) and then met up with some of the group for dinner at Milestones a restaurant right on the harbour with fab views.
After dinner we took a slightly extended walk home so we could see a little bit more of Victoria before heading to bed in preparation for tomorrow.
