So today we got up and went and had our final breakfast, bidding farewell to our new friends one last time.
After our farewells Jas and I collected our bits and made our way to Stanley Park. We decided to take the slightly longer route to avoid town and walk along the waterside. So we walked to Stanley Park admiring the inukshuks when we met a fellow traveller who was a little freaked by one of the homeless people so she joined us for our walk and we escorted her to Stanley Park safe and sound.
After doing our good deed we started to explore the park. We started at Second Beach and then walked on to Lost Lagoon, from here we walked on to the Totem Poles and had a quick look in the gift shop in the hope of finding some ice cream.
After discovering there was no ice cream we walked on to the next ice cream stand which was closed so we walked on to the Aquarium. We wondered if we might go and have a look around as they have Beluga whales and sea otters but we decided that see whales and otters in the wild was better and opted for a slushy instead. So we sat and drank our slushes and I got brain freeze and hen we continued on our journey.
Next we walked to the Pavilion (still on the hunt for ice cream and now lunch too) and then on to the rose garden. From here we then made our way to Beaver Lake which is a shrinking lake so wasn't quite the same as we had become accustomed too. But we admired the lake and took some 'arty' photos - Leah you would be proud! After accidently walking the whole lake we found our path and walked out towards the coast in search of lunch. As we were walking we helped out some more lost souls who couldn't find the Lions Gate Bridge and then we walked to look at the Lions Gate Bridge before walking round past Prospect Point and Siwash Rock before we stumbled across Third Beach and found not just lunch but also ice cream. So we got ourselves some lunch and sat in the shade (man it was hot!) and then we got an ice cream and ate it on our way back to the hotel.
So we made our way back to the hotel back along the beach and water front. By the time we made our back to the hotel we had walked 20km and had been walking for almost 6 hours. So we rewarded ourselves with a little rest before doing our final packing ready for our departure.
Before dinner we said goodbye to Jas and checked she got in the cab safely and then we (Leah, Dave and I) went for our last Canadian meal before heading to bed ready for my departure to the airport tomorrow.
Next stop Alaska!!
