Today ids the day martin arrives. We decided to get up and go to Piazza de Popoli. We were not disappointed, it has a huge granite obelisk in the centre of the square and two cuppolas- or church roofs either side. Stunning. It was warm so we got a coke in a local cafe and I had a great cappacino and then we decided to go off in Villa Borghese- Romes Park on a BIKE. It was a bike made for 4 and it had a motor. We were cracked up riding it. We wandered past the lake and then came to this roundabout- huge coaches and cars were whizzing towards us and the brakes on the bike were not eally very good. We whizzed over the roundabout for a quick photo stop near four ancient columns and then took the bike back. Really hot and sweaty. Wandered off to Via Corso. Romes answer to 5th avenue and then went to the Pantheon square for lunch. Got thrown out of a restaurant- the first time in my life. The reason was that we never ordered enough food. 1 pizza and some Bruschetta was not enough along with 4 cokes and a bottle of water- this would have cost 25 bucks , but no they said we had to order more. I left and ended up at Mickey D's!! Better view of the Pantheon and better food if you ask me!1 God Bless America!! Wandered down to Vittorio Emanuell statue also known as the wedding cake, awful thing too busy and not a nice monument a tll. The roads close in parts of Rome on Sunday so we stopped in the middle of one of the main high streets in front of the Collesseum and did a quick picture.
Went back to the Hotel and martin called. He was in Rome but the underground closed a t5pm so he had to get the bus to the hotel- he arrived at 11pm.Nice to see him, Now off to Ischia, smallisland near Cpri. Not very well known and only Italians really go there.
