Got up later and decided to go for breakfast- that was funny. The Hotel breakfast room is a converted bedroom its tiny it only seats 6 at a time. We got a quick bite and headed out on the Metro system to the Collesseo- the Colisseum, a fantasstic sight as you come out from the station. Boys had a pic with them and a gladiator. 5 euro- but worth it. The lines were huge so we decided to go to the Forum, but we walked up towards the Wedding cake monument so wwe saaw a bit of Rome. The forum was hot, hot , hot. The trees gave us some shade, we saaw where Cesaer was aid to rest and then the vestel virgins temple. So hard to keep in your mind this is so old. The forum is 30 feet below Romes height due to the debris tthat has built up over time. We wandered over then to the Trevi fountain so Paddy could throw in his coins with his brother and sister, and topped up the water bottles.Thre are street hawkers everywhere selling crap, ballons filled with flour that can be pulled into shapes, roses, magnets that get thrown in the air. Paddy did throw the magnets and didnt catch them, they flew everywhere! From the Trevi we meandered over to the PAantheon again then on to the Colosseum. The lines were smaller and the best news was the kids being EU citizens they got in for free- a saving of 11 Euro. MAartin will be pleased! The tour we took wwas not good, the walkie talkies were annoying as they kept screeching in our ears. HTe guiddee herself wass not great at speaking English either. The actual site was awesome though, hjard to believe it was such a horrible sight all those years ago, so much suffering. The Emperer ordered on gaame to consist of 10,000 elephants pitched against lions, tigers ettc. These games would go on for weeks, people had a numbered entrance door and they could seat 50,000 people in minutes and evacuate them the smae way. ladies saat right in the noseblled seats, senators and important people saat nearest the action. A little like todaays arenaas, which by the way is saand in latin.

Had a good meal after traipsing our way back in the stinky metro cars with lots of sweaty Romans going home from work. Hattie is tired and so are the boys so off to the Hotelfor morre MTV and bed. I just hope the shower is working. Changing Hotels tomorrow.
