Oaxaca is more of a stopover town due it's docile nature and quiet atmosphere. The hostel itself is nothing special save for its convenient central location, the restaurants are a little over priced and the nightlife is seriously lacking. Still, just an hour away is a real treasure; hierve al agua - meaning "the water boils". The only way to get there and back involves the five of us jumping into the back of a pick up truck which winds up the mountain; a bumpy and uncomfortable journey, punctuated with numerous tiny villages and farmers walking along the road with donkeys and dogs in trail. Once there the landscape is epic, resembling a frozen waterfall against a never ending plight of mountains. The view is absolutely stunning and I'm annoyed that today of all days is the day my camera refuses to work and I have to take all my snaps on my phone. Despite it's name, however, the water pools are fairly cold so a mere quick dip suffices.
