The impression I had of Koh Phangan was that I would hate it. I thought it would be way too touristy and I would want to leave as soon as possible. I was wrong. I loved Koh Phangan. It may be due to the fact that we had really nice accommodation throughout our stay there. We ended up getting a bit confused about where to stay on arrival and wandering the streets in the heat of the day looking for somewhere reasonably priced. Luckilly a passer by offered us a rom at a rate we could afford so we hopped on his motorbike and were off. This place was luxury. It was right on the beach, had a pool, hot water in the shower. It really was so nice compared to some of the places we've been staying. We also immediately bumped into some Irish friends of ours from Vietnam so that was nice.
Unfortunately most days it did rain at times so we didn't get to use the pool as much as we hoped. The evenings however were great fun. There is a big long beach where the full moon parties are held. There are a number of bars along here. There were the usual fire throwers and fire related activities going on. I must mention the balloon game. This was great fun although I never ever did win. Everyone has a balloon tied around their ankles and its their mission to burst everyone elses while avoiding having their own burst. It got pretty rough at times I'll tell you!
I also made a friend, David Beckham, one of the bar staff not the real one unfortunately. He kept me in constant supplyof free drinks and roses. We also met Tom Cruise and James Bond.
Koh Phagnan was great fun and I'm glad we went. I can imagine the full moon parties must be amazing and its a shame we couldn't make one. We met lots of really nice people in Koh Phagnan and had a great time.
