We intended to spend a few days in Koh Samui, however, due to really bad weather expected to carry on for the following few days we thought it better to hop over to Koh Phi Phi on the west side where the better weather was. We also found the Chaweng area where we were staying a little too commercialised and no longer felt that we were staying on an exotic Thai island. The very next morning we left Samui and later that day after many boat and bus journeys arrived back in Koh Phi Phi. It was just as we remembered and we had an absolutely fantastic time.
By day we would bake on the beach, only getting up occasionally to cool down in the sea or play a spot of frisby. One day however we did make it on a boat trip where we visited Maya Bay, the beach that was used in the film 'The Beach'. It was really beautiful and we were there at just the right time before the swarms of tourists arrived. We also got taken to a number of picturesque spots where we got to do some snorkelling.
By some weird coincidence everyone we had met while travelling Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia appeared to all be Koh Phi Phi as well. It was nice to meet up with old friends and make new friends. It was definitely the perfect way to end our south east asia leg of the trip. We were out every night to the Reggae Bar, Tiger Bar and Hippies. I'm sure our livers aren't thanking us for it and I have just begun recovering from a 6 day hangover.
We have had an absolute blast in south east asia. I am going to miss it so much but know for sure I will be back. We have met so many lovely people and seen and done so much. I definitely have many happy memeories from here. So now we are heading on to Oz. I'm feeling pretty emotional about leaving tomorrow as I did when leaving India, but I know Australia is going to be amazing too and we have so much to look forward to.
