In the morning S & I tried to locate 3 aircraft crash sites near Bamaga. Only located one of them but it was very interesting. Forced to abandon search when the track became impassible. Helicopter flight over the Cape was brilliant! The 30 min flight provided a great perspective to the Cape and the many islands around it. Left camp by 7.30am on our way to the Tip. Decided to take only 2 cars & mine was the one left behind - a case of treachery by the convoy leader! Enjoyed the role as passenger in B&M's Nissan Patrol! It was an excellent drive encompassing water crossings & patches of rainforest. Arrived at the carpark & walked the 600m to the most northerly point. Took lots of pics. After a good night's sleep the camp pack up was interrupted by a whole convoy of vehicles crossing Canal Creek going north. It was good fun watching! Especially one with camper trailer. Today we get to inspect some of the OTT creek crossings with a view to either crossing them or hopefully watching others cross them. We added a young couple to our convoy. They were on an 18 month trek around the country & while well equipped didn't want to damage car or camper early in the trek. Again a short driving day on good quality dirt roads. Intended to bush camp at Archer River but found it too sandy to get in & out of the area. Pushed on to MTS & paid $1o to camp under huge old mango tree & have a shower. Enjoyable time around the campfire whilst waiting for the power generator to switch off.
