Back in Puerto Natales and back with an internet connection, we eagerly sought an update on the ferry trip we were supposed to take back up to Puerto Montt. The Navimag ferry would take us through the archipelago and fjords of Chile to work our way back north again.

We were originally supposed to board the boat on the 16th, the day after we returned from Torres del Paine. We found out before we left for the trek that the boat had been delayed one day, but upon return we discovered it had now been delayed 3 days!

This meant we would not make it back to Santiago in time for our return flight to Australia, so we had to give up on that idea unfortunately. It was then time to find a plan B, which ended up being a flight to Puerto Montt then an overnight bus back to Santiago.

So we ended up with 2 additional nights in the sleepy town of Puerto Natales. We spent the time relaxing and familiarising ourselves with some of the local restaurants. There wasn't much else to do or see.
