Our last day of the W Trek we awoke feeling a little under the weather from El Gato the night before. We had optimistically agreed with a few others to meet at 7am and go and watch the sunrise at the glacier lookout about 10 minutes from the refuge, but we didn't make it. No one did except Tom who had a ball taking photos on his own for 2 hours.
After a slow start and some breakfast we walked to a lookout point about an hour past the refuge, which was closer to the face of the Grey Glacier. To get there, we crossed an awesome suspension bridge, hanging high over a gully with a waterfall behind.
From the lookout we had a great view of the face of the glacier and across the top, with all the gnarled ice and blue hues. It wasn't quite Perito Moreno Glacier, but it was pretty impressive.
It was then time to return back to the refuge, then back along the western side of the W to the base at Refugio Paine Grande. It was here that we would take a catamaran that would drop us at the bus back to Puerto Natales.
