We awoke on day 3 to a similar display of colour with the sun rise, and a nice big rainbow arcing around the mountain top. It was a sign of another good day ahead. We didn't have far to walk today, only about 11kms, but we were moving on to a different Refugio and would be carrying all our gear.
The walk took us along Lago Nordernskjöld. The weather wasn't too cold, and other than a spot of rain on the very odd occasion, it was a lovely day. We were treated to countless rainbows and beautiful views over the lake and along the valley with the rocky mountains to our right.
We crossed more streams and suspension bridges, filling up our bottles as we went. All the water is potable and delicious which saves on carrying large quantities and spending money on bottle water.
After a few hours of fairly relaxed walking and lots of stops along the way we reached Refugio Los Cuernos. This smaller refugio was a great spot to warm up as the temperature was dropping outside. We settled into our room with triple level bunks and got to know our new room mates since Mandi and Tom were put in a different room.
After dinner and a few wines we eventually retired, finding that our room was actually resemblant of a sauna given we were right next to the fireplace that warmed the entire refuge. We certainly hadn't expected to be so warm!
