Bus from La Paz to Copacabana. Met Soloman at the bus station who runs Hostal gabriel where we are now staying, our room gets the afternoon sunshine so is very cozy. Nice to get of the bus and sorted quickly. The town is a nice size to walk around, we went straight down to the water front and saw the fisherman out in boats and a beautiful sunset over the lake which looks like the sea it goes right out to the horizon line.

A day around the town with drinks on the balcony in the sunshine.
Saturday, 26th June
A beautiful day in Copacabana, walked around the headland and saw a Wedding by the Lakeside. Around 30 mini vans paraded along the front including the Brides that was covered in white balloons and paper chains, it was quite a sight all the men and women were dressed up it looked lovely. Stopped at a hippy cafe for a beer on the way back to town. Around the Cathedral in the centre of town is the most beautiful area and the interior of the Cathedral itself is stunning. The far end near the altar is a wall full of gold pillars and statues which took our attention as soon as we walked in as well as the domed ceiling. The door at the entrance was elaboatley carved with traditional fittings the sort of door that would be great to have if you had a huge house, maybe not for Taylor Street! There was a service on so we weren't able to to go any futher in to see the Virgin of Copacabana who the beach in Rio is named after. After thinking we wouldn't be able to make it we did climb Cerro Calvario. A hill that you can see from all over town, the trail to the top follows the stages of the cross, at the top of which are altars where pilgrims light candles, burn offerings and pour alcohol to ensure their prayers are heard.
