Last full day in Barcelona. Jeannie had booked online tickets into Gaudi's very popular Sagrada Familia, avoiding queues that stretched around two sides of the temple precinct. Did the Birch Carroll Coyle queue jumping dance on the way in- amazing interior - vaulted ceilings with the buttresses more like trees supporting a stone forest canopy than columns, and stained glass everywhere. Gaudi himself is buried here after his unfortunate inability to outrun a tram at 73 years. Because he dressed so shabbily the authorities initially didn't treat him, thinking he was a bum, and by the time they recognized him it was too late. Big funeral to make up for it though. Took the lift to the top - great view of the area and the detail of the church itself. Afterward back to the apartment to say goodbye to Carmen who heads back to Murcia while we fly tomorrow to Poland. Walked down to Las Ramblas for our last "pasear" and meal on the popular street, wandered around the Gothic Quarter bordering Las Ramblas. Pack tomorrow for the afternoon flight.
