Up early in Barcelona to pack, have breakfast downstairs, meet Kevin the apartment manager and catch cabs out to the airport. Fun and games at the airport catching WIZZ airlines. Queued three bloody times at the same counter including once after paying 20 euro per person to print out tickets- then line up again. Flight was ok - no allocated seats but we got free seats each. Landed at Katowice airport Poland to applause from the passengers - maybe it was pilots first landing - he did bank very heavily coming in. Met by Dominic our driver to Krakow 80 km away. Good sense of humour - led the six of us to a red mini and said "this is our car". We compared stories about our crocodiles, and their wolves and bears. Very green country even though it is summer- Spain was completely brown and arid.
Arrived at the Red Brick apartments and checked in then went out for something to eat. Huge modern shopping centre - then shopped at Carrefour before wandering through the Old Quarter - fascinating and so much life even at 11pm- the square was jammed with people and the dozens of restaurants were full. Happened on a "garden event" - Trio of musicians providing interpretation of an old silent movie in English subtitles supplemented by polish subtitles in a garden setting. Weird but wonderful. tomorrow is auschwitz and bergenau for the boys and shopping for the girls.
