Yesterday was fantastic with the trip to Montserrat topped off by an intense flamenco show in Placa Reial, then a wander through the plazas late at night when everything comes alive. People thronging the squares with bands and buskers at every turn. A good meal earlier off Las Ramblas with beers so big we could barely lift them (what Aussie orders the "small" beer when given a choice between big and small?) and pallellas, pollo and pescado.
Today was our last day in Spain. A relaxing breakfast at our adopted local cafe and a few hours of leisurely wandering the squares and backstreets of las Ramblas Barrio. Today is a Catalonian Public holiday so the streets are awash with red and yellow Catelonian shirts and flags - like "Orstraya" Day for us. Very colorful and a festive atmosphere everywhere-Commemorating the Spanish conquering the Catalonians 300 years ago. Some things you don't forget apparently!
Then down to the Cruise Ship Port with a mad Spanish taxi driver who navigated the thronging demonstrators at great speed. Lines to board ship were long but they processed quickly and we were on deck, or "dick" as the kiwis say.
I knew we were in good hands when our steward greeted us with "hello my name is Jesus".
Into the "Where's Wally" outfits and we were off exploring looking for six other Wallys all over the ship.
