Pretty beery day yesterday for the boys. While the lay-dees went shopping for the sales the boys went to the Sports Bar in Barcelona at the bottom of Las Ramblas. Beer and hamburger for breakfast as the Wallabies-British Lions game started at 11am. Six Aussies, and many many Poms. Good game until the last twenty minutes then it became a flogging. And the Poms let us know it. Got on well with a few of them- handshakes all around afterward.
After that, wandered down to the beach - a reasonable hike but we followed the stream. Very crowded and many (allegedly) topless women (we wouldn't know as we weren't looking) . Went to "Muscle Point" where the body builders hang out doing chin ups etc and pumping their bodies up. Found a bar on the beach to sit and watch the crowd go by while the boys hit the water.
Ladies eventually found us despite our best efforts and joined us for beers and fries. Wandered home for a siesta (the boys especially after twenty five large ales) and then spent a very entertaining evening on the balcony watching the antics of three large loud hens parties across the road, waiting for an hour outside the nightclub with their whistles and megaphones - also involving us on the balcony. The brides-to-be being picked up and driven around in a hot pink stretch limo; the brothel below doing a roaring trade in men and even a young family; the efforts of car after car trying to get into a too-small gap. At least we know what the front and back bumpers are used for here - to let them know they'd hit the car behind or in front. Probably to get an extra few inches of space judging from the way they rammed into them. eventually the tenth vehicle got in to rousing applause from ourselves and two other balcony crowds watching the goings on. He took a bow then sauntered off. Watched a council towtruck uplift an illegally parked car- very neat operation- they jack the back up and sit the wheels on their own pair of small wheels like a pair of roller blades. Very entertaining all round.
