Chennai or Madras as it was formerly known is famous for its beach. We arrived it Chennai after a 3 hour train journey from Pondicherry, followed by another 30 minute journey on the infamous 'local trains', not something I would rush to experience again! Tiruchchipalli, to be completely honest is a hole that happens to have a fort and temple up 400 stairs with a nice view, really its only saving grace. We arrived at the hotel to find the previous guests had not checked out, unfortunately the rats, cockroaches and bed bugs had no intention of checking out...so we did!
