It is not PC to abbreviate Aboriginal, Indigenous People is acceptable though
· TV is really bad unless you like reality cooking programmes, then you can watch Australia's biggest looser (but be prepared for masses of adverts)
· Radio programmes are informative and the music is good, no avoiding rap songs
· In spite of Australia being a sports mad nation they are generally overweight
· The priority of sports appears to be
1. AFL Footie
2. Gambling (on anything, horses and pokies is big)
3. NRL Rugby league
4. Rugby Union
· They have an ability to pull the p..s out of themselves and everybody else
· They are politically correct, unless they are knocking Julia Gillard (the Prime Minister)
· The car engines are really big with really low speed limits
· People are friendly and mostly helpful
· They call everybody mate, even their kids
· The country has 3 (or more) time zones, each State has different laws
· Get used to filling your own car with petrol and self check out at the groceries store
· Australia is expensive, even the Europeans complain
· The country is user friendly, you will find:
1. Spectacular parks at all centres with art, free BBQ facilities and good public amenities
2. Cycle and walking paths are always present.
