Hello, and again, apologies for the lack of responses to emails / blog and picture updates.
So, we moved on from Avignon (I will upload a picture to show you how bad our pitch was at the campsite, with the grey wall and all night lighting) - we had a fabulous dinner out on our last night - the 'plat du jour' at 11 euros was Maigret duck in a red sauce with potato gratin - it was delicious - one of the best meals I have ever eaten.
From Avignon, we drove across to stay about 30 minutes from Lyon. We took the train into Lyon itself and had a wander round, it was a nice place and we found an interesting museum about the French Resistance, which we kept reading in 'Allo Allo' voices !
The campsite at Lyon was fabulous, with a river and stony beach running through it so we had a camp fire and bbq one night. By the weekend, the weather had really turned though and we had a huge thunderstorm all night - woke up to plenty of wet patches in the tent so a bit of mopping up to do and a day spent staring at the rain and reading the kindle. It had dried up by dinner time, so I cooked a spaghetti bolognaise and I was just draining the pasta using the saucepan lid - so I thought I'd be witty and quip that I was watering the grass - but I lost concetration and dropped the lid dumping all the spaghetti in the grass. They - and we - were in hysterics - they had to walk off laughing as they couldn't speak and we didn't see them again !
We moved on from Lyon to Annecy, which is absolutely stunning - lots of canals and hanging baskets as well as a beautiful lake. We spend 5 nights camping here - I have attached a picture of our tent as seen from the roadside, we had a fabulous view of the Alps. We took a speed boat out (well, 'not much speed' boat) across the lake, tried tartiflette (another fantastic dish of potatoes, bacon, cheese and cream) and went to Geneva for the day.
We have now moved into Switzerland and are staying high up in the Alps at Veysonnaz (many, many thanks to Janet and Damien for the loan of their apartment) - we only arrived yesterday so are enjoying 'home' now including bath, hairdryer and fridge !
Love to you all x x

Barbara Hows the weather? There is definitely an autumn chill in the air here, leaves are begining to turn bright colours. Ah! Tarteflette, one of our favourite dishes, I have the recipe, if you want it when you return. We arrived home safely but car is now being repaired after a very tasty Italian decided to come in through the boot!!!!! His only english was, so sorry, and kept shaking our hands, I,d forgive him anything ha!ha! If you get the chance Zermatt and the views of Matterhorn are great.
