Last night we went upstairs to the top level of the hotel. The restaurant, bar and pool are all up there. We arrived at the restaurant just as the sun was starting to set. The view was exquisite, with the bright orange sun setting behind the city of Athens. The waiter sat us at a table right beside the pool. Instead of chairs there was a long lounge suite that ran parallel to the table to sit on. We ordered a light dinner and a drink. Paul ordered a Heineken, but I decided I would order my first cocktail of the trip and got a piña colada. While we were waiting for our meals we watched the sun go down. It goes down incredibly quickly in Greece. One minute it's up high in the sky and the next it's slipped behind the horizon.
Today we spent the morning relaxing in our room. We got up just before 10.00am hoping to catch breakfast before 10.30am, only to find out it finished at 10.00am. We spent the afternoon sunbathing, reading and swimming. When you go to the pool the provide you with a large beach towel and you have to pay a €20 bond. They give you the bond back when you return the towels. It was really sunny, but there was a nice breeze too. When you order drinks at the bar the bring them over to you beside the pool. I could get used to this! We spent about three hours by the pool. Then around 4.00pm we walked across to the kiosk across the road to buy an ice block. We ate them in our room while watching lots of 90s TV programmes like Friends and The Fresh Prince of Belair. At 7.00pm we went downstairs for our Contiki meeting. Our tour manager is half Greek, half South African. He seems really nice. There are 33 people in our group, most of them are girls. We have to meet downstairs at 8am tomorrow morning to leave for the port. There was an optional Greek dinner tonight for €38 (I think). We decided not to do it though as we'd already done one on our last tour. Instead we went back up to the restaurant and bar by the pool. We grabbed a couch beside the pool and ordered dinner and a drink. While we were waiting we took some photos of the photo area, city and the sun setting. I also took a short video of the sun setting so everyone at home can see how quickly it goes down. We came back to our room and I organised most of my things tonight so I don't have to do it early tomorrow morning. Hopefully I might even make it to breakfast tomorrow morning. Tomorrow we head to Mykonos. It's hard to believe that this time next week we will be back at work.
