Ted had rung the other night to invite us out for lunch. We met at Wimbledon station and walked up the hill to Wimbledon Village, pretty good going at 88! It was decided that the Dog and Fox looked good. A bit early for lunch we started off in the bar. Again a wonderful day of conversation, laughs and good food, the next thing we knew it was 4pm! A little explorative walk around the village before heading back down the hill. Very interesting looking in the estate agent windows, the highest rental we found was the small sum of £18,500/month!
We saw Ted on to the Guildford train before catching the Chessington train ourselves for a quick visit with Don and Sheila. They informed us that they thought the pub we had lunch at was where Uncle Frank and Aunt Steve had their wedding breakfast, back in the war. Small world! Although obviously more frail than when we've previously seen him, Don was looking pretty good as was Sheila. We had just missed Sue and Emily who were also over from NZ. They were spending a few days in Oxford with friends. Never mind, we'll no doubt catch up back home. We didn't stay long, just enough time for a drink, bite to eat and a chat. They had their monthly call to Jill planned for 8pm and we still had to get back across town.
