Not having flown out of France before and with the car to return, we thought it best to give ourselves plenty of time, heading for the airport early. Quite needlessly really, as returning the car was easier than a rental and they drove us to the terminal. We checked in electronically and proceeded through security with all our luggage. On the other side we queued with was seemed like the masses to drop off our bags. We had an hour to spare when we realised we were stuck in this rather small area with only a few shops, no seating and one cafe. So we ate and surfed the net until it was time to board.
We had intended to take the tube from Heathrow to Hammersmith and then a cab to Ormiston Grove, however as Tom's pack weighed 20kg we thought he'd struggle a bit and so took a cab the whole way instead. After unloading our gear we headed down to the bus stop with the intention of heading down to Ealing for some groceries, only to find there was a bus strike on and the only bus running was the 260 to Golders Green. We jumped on and figured we'd get off at the first supermarket we came to and what a stroke of luck, it stopped right outside a big ASDA. As usual we bought more than we really needed and almost more than we could carry but the prices were so good compared to what we had been paying in Europe and they had real meat!
