Day 24 Tuesday July 15th
Cape Tribulation
We have had a very nice day today. There was no rain overnight, but there were a few showers around 8am. After breakfast we decided to take a 1hour 'Croc Cruise' along the Cooper Creek. We were able to make a booking at the campground for the 10.30am cruise. We drove to the cruise location...approx 20 mins...the sun was shining and we only had a few other people on board. We saw four crocodiles in all, and a tawny frogmouth (which was not that exciting since they appear in our backyard on a regular basis!). After the cruise we had a coffee and a short walk along the beach. We watched the Reef Cruise depart and then headed back to camp. We were a little envious of the people going off to the reef, but the seas were still rough, so the decision we had made not to go was probably for the best. We were just a little tempted because it is only 25 minutes by high speed boat from here to the outer reef. We had lunch and then had another very pleasant long walk on the beach. It was a warm sunny afternoon, with much less wind than yesterday. We had great intentions of cooking our own meal tonight, but after having a beer at the bar, we decided to order pizza again!!!
This is a great campground, and we have enjoyed our very relaxing stay here.
Back to Cairns tomorrow.
