Hello followers! We have not done any traveling outside of Reading yet, but every day has been an adventure so far nonetheless. We have done a ton of exploring and learning over the past week, and we compiled this list for you guys to enjoy:
-
We got locked in our car park (parking garage) and later found out that it was legit because we never had a key for it in the first place.
-
We found two large and awesome parks near our home, perfect for running and playing frisbee!
-
We are not crazy - our fridge is actually broken! And then we found out it could take up to a month to replace. Keep your fingers crossed for speedy repairs!
-
We learned (from experience, not just past rotates anymore) that having a washer and dryer in the same machine is backwards logic… luckily there are heated pipes in our bathroom that can speed up the drying process.
-
Our apartment is in the perfect location… right next to the town center and close to all bus and train stops, and work is still in perfect walking distance
-
We learned to never leave home without a rain jacket… rain and bright sunshine are common in the same day (multiple times). It has given us the opportunity to see a couple of rainbows!
-
We learned why smelly alley is called smelly alley…
-
Sweeney & Todd meat pies really are delicious… even if it is suspicious that a barber shop is conveniently placed next door.
-
Because it is so wet here, all of the fences, stone houses, and trees are mossy… see picture of tree that looks like a face!
John has been spending the week so far cleaning, cooking, napping, watching Dexter, planning weekend trips, solving phone and fridge issues, and exploring. He walks with me to and from work, so just in that walk he goes 8 miles a day (without all the other exploring)! What a man!
I have enjoyed my first few days at Rockwell Collins UK. The people that I work with are great and everybody is very friendly and helpful. Ask me in a month what I do and hopefully I'll have a better answer J It has been and will continue to be a challenge, and I love it.
We hope that everybody is staying warm across the pond!

Michelle White Hi guys! Sounds like you are having fun despite the issues with the fridge and washer. :) The windchill was -53 here yesterday so it was brutally cold. Be happy you missed that!
