Well this is a new experience for us. Not the wind so much but the incredible coverage by the media and the safety precautions taken by all authorities. Boston isn't being hit as hard as New York and Virginia but it still looks like most tourist attractions are shut down as well the transit system. What a shame for us as we only have 3 days here but then again, we were very lucky with perfect weather at Cape Cod.
As the worst of the storm isn't supposed to hit Boston until mid afternoon, we decide to take a quick trip out to MIT Museum which is a few subway stops away. What we don't check is if it is open today and of course it isn't and neither is anything else of note. In fact the whole transit system is closing down at 2pm in case of power outages which is the major problem with storms here. So on the way back to our apartment, we buy food and beer for our dinner tonight which I cook now and keep warm. The apartnent is all electric so hopefully we won't have an outage or we will be eating in the dark. I discover a huge torch under the sink but the battery is flat so I guess my little travel torch will have to suffice. Karen, you always take your head torch when you travel ...... wish I had taken mine! In another 2 hours, the worst will be over in this area and with that hopefully transport will return to normal tomorrow or Wednesday. We have a train to catch to New York on Thursday for our flight to Egypt on Thursday night. Here's hoping!
