Las Sirenas sets sail silently before breakfast and we pop up through our hatch at 6 am onto the deck to enjoy the scenery as we sail through the jungle covered canyon towards the sea. Breakfast of fresh fruit and scrambled eggs with black beans and toast is served on the move.
Where the river meets the sea, we drop in to the town of Livingston for a couple of hours whiie Raoul takes our passports to border control to sort out the Guatemalan exit formalities. The town is colourful but dated and weary looking with many buildings and boats past their heyday. The main action here is the squadrons of pelicans patrolling and diving the harbour. Soon we are back on board and heading out to sea.
There are 2 hammocks on the main deck between the bows.....great for watching dolphins from as they swim along in front of us as we head out to sea. It is almost like they were loving swimming along and hearing Elaine's shrieks of delight as we head to the 2nd greatest barrier Reef.
The seas are choppy here and the waves splash up over the bow and she emerged from the hammock soaking wet but very happy.
