We finished up in Samos and are now back in Didm, hauled out and on the hard. It was nice getting back to see all the sailing people in Didim. We had a last big BBQ with about 30 people. Most are heading off on their summer sailing in the next few days. We are hoping to lots of catch ups in southern Turquie over the rest of the year.

Our hotel we have booked for the next 3 weeks is about 3k away and we ride the bikes to and fro each day. Our room is basic but big enough and clean. Interestingly they don't seem to do sheets?! We asked on the first night and then again the next day but were told quite definitely that the (what we would call) mattress protector is in fact a sheet and you just get a type of bedspread throw for a cover. As it seemed a bit odd to us we have brought a top sheet from the boat and now feel more comfortable - we take it off and hide it in the cupboard during the day so house keeping can't make off with it. The house keeping is fairly random, some days a tidy up, some days new towels, some days nothing. But they are very friendly and we try to understand each other. We would have stayed in the Yacht Club but they had a big wedding booked for half way through for a few days and we would have to have left and got somewhere for a short stay in a busy period so it all got too hard. And it was over three times the price. Kiki and Cora are home in Spain for two weeks.

Typically we have found extra things that need to be done whilst out of the water. Lagoon, or associates, did not sand the fibre glass prior to priming for the antifoul. So even though it looked really good and clean when out of the water it immediately started falling off! The whole lot now needs to be taken off and started from scratch. We are in negotiations about who pays for this…….not holding our breaths…..This obviously means more time in the yard than we had planned, thought it was all going a bit too smoothly. It's been quite windy the last couple of days and there is dust and sanded fire glass and antifoul swirling around everywhere - very healthy. Still, strange people that we are, it's still more fun than not. Except for the fact that Peter is getting tax paperwork ready and that does not make him happy!!!!!
