On the way to Lindos we passed by Anthony Quinn Bay, named after the Zorba the Greek actor as it was said to be his favourite. All I can say is that it must have been some undisclosed goings on there to make it a favourite as it was not a very prepossessing place. We didn't even stop.
Anchored at Lindos in a gorgeous little lagoon bay, St Pauls Bay. It is said that the Apostle stopped here one time - and naturally there is a church to him. We wonder if the bay may have been a volcanic crater going by the surrounds and geography (see photos). Other islands have them but normally there is some reference to them being a cauldra. Lindos was the home town of the Colossos of Rhodes statue builder.
We went ashore exploring and for lunch the second day and during the time we were gone some sea had got up outside our haven and we wouldn't have been able to leave even if we'd wanted to. As per the plan Kiki had dropped us off and picked us up at the little jetty so the tender was not crashing around as it would have been left on it's own. A little bit of swell but not uncomfortable. We had a stern line ashore as well as the anchor. Lindos is very pretty, all white buildings climbing up the hills with alley ways and nooks and crannies everywhere. It's still quite quiet but we think we'll trade a few shops not being open for the lack of crowds. The weather is warmer now and we even had a swim (fairly quick and not me) yesterday upon arrival. It was more a check the anchor type of swim than a wallow around.
One day we saw a local dive boat come in so Peter and Kiki went to enquire and ended up booking a cave dive for them and Cora (no thanks for me!). They used a combination of ours and rented gear - it was a good try out for our new equipment. Peter needs more weights.
We climbed many stairs from the village up to the Temple to Aphrodite which also had the ruins of a Knights of St John castle. Very picturesque.
Last Sunday we decided to start to move back towards Kos. We have a few delivered items to collect from there plus there is some wind coming. There seem to be a couple of options for a stop off on the way.

TG Jeez - the anchoring location could not be more perfectly protected! It looks ideal.
