Leaving Paros we went to Sefnos to overnight and have a quick look around. A very pretty old town climbing up the hill. Had a very nice quiet still night for another meal on the front deck. Korean style BBQ using the lay flat griller.
Kythnos was the next stop working our way gradually north west for Athens. I had chosen this from the map as it looked like a nice place to water ski/wake board but it turned out to be chock a block with day tripper and charter boats! We squeezed in but it turned out to be a bit choppy for skiing anyway. There was a interesting three level bar on the beach so went had sundowners there instead.
We next spent a night at Liman Souniou and had our own temple to Poseidon on the nearby hill. Lyndie and Chris walked up to it for a look around. It was prettily lit up at night. We went straight from here to Ormos Varis to check it out for next week. Cora and Kiki are having time off and we will stay on board in this bay. I certainly seems a good place, excellent shops, bakery and good holding and wind protection.
We had booked Zea Marina in Atherns using the D Marin marina group's reciprocal agreement with their other marinas for 7 free days. Here we will come and go dropping off and picking up Terry and Liz in a few weeks time. The marina is inland sort of, big and very busy but well located for facilities. We'd booked a private car tour for a 4 hour sight see around Athens. Unfortunately the appalling traffic in Athens meant we only had time for an hour and a half at the Acropolis and the same at the Agora. A bit disappointing but they were still worth the effort and it was quite interesting trying to drive through central Athens! I put a review on Trip Advisor suggesting that the company advise people of this and make sure their customers decide what they want to see based on the traffic conditions only to get into a fairly heated discussion by text with the company as to why I gave their service 3 stars! I couldn't get through to them that is was not their service, driver or vehicle that was the problem - just a bit more clarity on expectations. They had listed about 6 places of interest and we were under the impression there would be time for this. Anyway it was OK really.
Lyndie and Chris left by taxi for the airport the next morning so we couldn't have done any better. They took us and Kiki and Cora out for a lovely meal on their last night.
Peter and I are now bobbing around in Ormos Varis - home alone for 10 days. We are on DIETS and waiting for a Simrad technician to turn up to fix our underwater scan instruments on going problem. Hhmm, have just noticed an Australian catamaran anchored in front of us - that could be a problem for the diet……
Update - they came by to say hello to fellow Aussies. They are having battery and electrical problems with most of their systems turned off so we had a BBQ dinner on EN. Graeme and Mandy from Roulette. Only blew the diet by three bottles of red. The Simrad technician has turned up at 6.30 pm and worked some magic with still some to go but looking promising. Bad workmanship in Turkiye by the looks of it.
