So after my last post we went on a day trip around phi Phi and neighbouring islands. We met the tour group at the pier where we were allocated our snorkelling gear including masks and flippers, and after about 15 mins of trying to convincing this thai bird that my huge size 7 feet were not going to fit in a size 3/4 shoe and her reluctantly fishing out some mens flippers for me (ha ha), we were off.
Our fist stop was Maya bay home to 'The Beach'. Now all the other tours seemed to just drive the boat straight up to the beach and everyone would get off and have a look around but as usual our trip had no regard for our health and safety. We were dropped off literally in the middle of the ocean and told to swim... oh and take our shoes! So after tying my flip flops to my bikini top we jumped in and swam, and swam, and swam all the time trying desperately hard not to let the waves crash you into the rocks! When we got to the shore we discovered we then had to climb through a cave and then walk through the jungle! We managed to finally arrive and the beach is absolutely gorgeous, perfect sand and water but there were hundreds of people. Seriously overcrowded. So after 10 mins we had to pluck up the courage to try to get back to the boat! This time i managed to hitch a lift on a passing kayak but i did give kat a wave as i passed her ha ha.
After that we stopped at shark reef and did some snorkelling. I found this hilarious as had never done it before and couldnt stop laughing. It was amazing though could see loads of stuff and really enjoyed it. We didnt see any sharks but apparently there were some.
Then we went to Monkey Beach. We got out of the boat swam to the shore and there were loads of little monkeys playing on the beach. They were stealing people's food and drink and were generally just cute. I did a bit of solo kayaking like the andventure queen i have become then we swam back to the boat... but as it was so ridiculously far out to sea we were a bit scared as everyone else was virtually on board and it was beeping its horn. So tried to swim as quickly as possible but Kat's mask was sh*t and as she tried to staedy herself to sort it out she was stung by a spikey shell! We found out what it was later when we went to the chemist and they wacked her leg repeatedly with a ruler! Apparently its like a sea urchin or something that shoots out poison if it thinks its under attack. She had all these little weird black dots in her leg (will uplaod pictures soon) and the pharmacist said that wacking it neautralised the poison. Trust Kat!
Next stop was Bamboo Island. What a joke this was!!!!! As usual they dropped us off about a mile out to sea and said "you swim". By this time the weather wasnt great and the waves had picked up too. We swam for literally 30 mins the got to a load of coral and the water was too shallow to swim over but the waves were throwing you into it! Everyone was just like "what the hell is this crappy boat trip?!" some people tried to make it but after Kats early experience i decided to turn back with a few of the others. The waves were really bad now and i was panicking in case couldn't get back. After literally an hour altogether of swimming made it back but couldn't see Kat. Everyone had given up trying to make it to the beach and turned back after been bashed into the coral but still couldn't see her. Then after looking round found her sunbathing on the top deck, she never even went in the water clever girl!
that night went to this reggae bar in Phi Phi. This was so cool. They had a thai boxing ring in the middle of the bar and asked for people to volunteer to fight each other for 2 free buckets (like a fishbowl). It was hilarious watching the lads get right in it. We were with a bunch of people and one of them decided to get up ha ha. After that 2 little four year olds were fighting then the main event.... 2 thai women who worked in the local massage shop had an argument and decided to have it out in the ring. Anyway the fat one did a sliding kick and threw her out of the ring and carried on fighting in the crowd. By now everyone had got involved and think someone threw my bucket! So we obviously decided to leave then and went to this bar on the beach for a black moon party.
yesteday just slept all day really.
Today got the boat to Krabi where we are now. Might nt be staying that long though. We've booked our accomadation for 3 nights but might not even make 1. We are literally in a hut in the jungle with nothing to do except get bitten by mossies and freaked out by the situation. Was quite funny actually when you think about it, not even any electricity! What are we doing?! ha ha.... Got a taxi into the town (well i say taxi i mean this bloke brought us on the back of his van) and we are now assessing the situation! All good fun though xxxx
