We arived in Taupo about 11 on Tuesday morning. The guy from the hostel we were staying in came to pick us up from the bus stop. He asked us what we were planning on doing while we were here and I stupidly mentioned we were planning on doing a skydive (we had been told that not only was Taupo an awesome place to do it it was also the cheapest place in the world). So he said we should book to do it that afternoon as the weather was perfect and the last few days had been really cloudy so that was it 10 mins later we booked to go skydiving!
Oh I have never been so nervous in my life wanted to actually spew I was so scared. We both decide jump from 15,000 feet (most of the others chose 12,000 but if your going to do it might as well do it poperly) mainly because you got an extra 45 seconds feefall. We got kitted up and nervously were led with our tandom divers (all fully qualified jumpers of course) to the plane. We had a 20 min nervous ascent until we got to 12,000 feet and the first lot got ready to go. This was the scariest part really because the doors opened and they all shuffled up to the edge. Just seeing their faces made me want to go back down to the ground but there was no way either of us would chicken out. Then they were gone and we started to climb higher til it was our turn. Kat went first. I tried not to look at her too much because thought it'd make me more nervous but she told me later that she was absolutely pooing her pants ha ha. Once she'd gone I knew I was next.... and all that was the worst part the anticipation, seeing everyone else go and still waiting. The fall was excellent. It didn't make you feel sick like I imagined and to be honest wasn't the least bit scary, it was just awesome. You felt like you were flying and because we had chosen to jump from 15,000 feet we could see all of the north island! The worst part was that I couldn't close my mouth as you can probably see from the photos but it was making my mouth so dry ha ha. It was just amazing can really describe it any better than that and I can't believe we actually did it. I'm glad I did but such a shame it was over so quick would definately reccommend it to anyone. We both feel on such a high now and just want to tell evryone we did a skydive!!!!... but actually just about eveyone in Taupo has done a sky dive so no biggie here but we're so proud.
So got loads of photos and a dvd for you all to watch when I get home (mine didn't turn out so good but its ok because got the package at half price so better really as only wanted the pictures anyway). Now we're looking for our next adeneline rush mmmm the prawn farm I think ha ha xxxx
