After making it through the stormy but we were all happy to be able to climb up on deck into the fresh air, to see that the sky was clearing and discover that it wouldn't be too long until we reached the San Blas canal. Despite the boat being wet from last nights rainstorm, and clouds still lingering, Liv and I still did not let this prevent us from sunbathing and yet again before 9 am we were set up for the morning.
It was incredible approaching San Blas as suddenly tons of tiny islands covered in green palm trees could be spotted from all angles. I sat with my legs dangling off the edge of the Boston amazement. One by one we jumped off the front of the boat and seam towards the beautiful island ahead of us, the water of which was so blue and clear it was unbelievable! After cooling off and watching the fish swim around our ankles, Liv and I walked around the island to explore; it was so unspoilt and truly stunning. The locals of the island lived in small straw huts, and when we went to say hello a woman gave each of us our own coconut over with a straw in to drink the water. It was perfect. We were then able to eat the coconut inside too - I felt so tropical and couldn't believe people actually lived here. After playing with a young local boy in the sea we headed back to the boat for some lunch. Luis makes us a fresh meal three times a day and they seemed to be getting better and better each time - plus rum and coke which went down a treat in the sunshine!
After some more sailing, relaxing, drinking and sunbathing we arrived at the island where we would spend the night (still on the boat but anchored). We got the dingy over to the beach and bought some beers at the bar, settling in for the evening chatting and playing hilarious drinking games. It was such fun! To top off the best day we were served barbecued lobster for dinner that the locals had caught for us earlier that day - absolutely delicious! Despite the heat it was much easier to sleep on the boat that night with it being still (and being drunk off rum!).
