The free breakfast offered by the hostel was so good - apple and cinnamon porridge with fruit and yoghurt and I started the day in a great mood! We walked into the square and visited the Palace which is said to have a wedding-cake like decor and has murals on the walls depicting Bolivia's fight for independence. As nice as the actual building itself was the highlight was the views. We found ourselves walking up this rickety spiral staircase up to a rooftop platform where the views of the city were stunning.
We went to the huge local market where indigenous locals can sell whatever they please to have a look around. There was a load of fresh fruit, vegetables and meats and so we moved on to do some clothes shopping, and both bought big woolly jumpers with llamas on hehe! We went for lunch and then wandered a little more before returning to our hostel, collecting our stuff and making our way to the bus station for our journey to Potosi.
The views on the bus ride were incredible and we saw such a beautiful sunset over the mountains. After a few hours we arrived in Potosi and it was freeeeeezing! Potosi is the highest city in the world at over 4000m in altitude. We could feel the difference immediately. We checked in at our hostel, La Casona, and both were in complete agreement that we should have a cosy night in. We went and bought some snacks before returning to our room - with a TV - getting under all the blankets and watched Hairspray. It was in Spanish but it was such a treat to discover that all the songs were in English! Woohoo.
