We set off to climb Mount Calvario, having read that the views from the top are worth the steep, torturous hike up there. It was pretty damn difficult completing a climb that steep at such high altitude and Liv and I had to take it slow to let our lungs acclimatise. It was definitely worth it once we reached he peak with beautiful views of Lake Titicaca, Copacabana and surrounding hills. We spent a while up there admiring the views and taking lots of photos.
We went for lunch at a restaurant on the Main Street and sat outside in the sunshine - finally some great weather! Full and satisfied we went and hired a swan pedalo and sailed it around Lake Titicaca which was both silly and fun. With not much time left we got ourselves comfortable at a lakeside cafe (where I ordered popcorn off the menu!) and relaxed, watching local people pass and soaking up the last of the hot sunny weather before catching the Bolivia Hop bus to Peru.
We crossed over the border to Peru with ease and although I had such a great time in Bolivia I was really excited to explore a new country. Back on the bus they put on 12 Years a Slave on the TV (in English!) and we continued on our way. We stopped in Puno and the entire bus went to a restaurant for a meal, which was a really nice idea but I'm pretty sure everyone just wanted to stay on the bus and get some sleep! Unfortunately, Liv got really ill with a sickness bug so the rest of the journey was a bus ride from hell; I felt so so sorry for her but she made it through like the trooper she is. Relieved to have arrived in Cusco at 5 am we checked in at Jamuy Hostel and climbed into bed, ready for some much needed sleep.
