After breakfast we got on our boat to Isla del Sol, the island of the sun, for the day. We were able to sit on the roof of the boat and it was really pleasant sailing across lake Titicaca in the sunshine. Upon arrival at the island we began our few hour hike from the northern region to the south.
The views along the way we're beautiful, and made the extremely steep uphill sections of the walk totally worth it. As we climbed to the top of the island we passed lots of isolated houses where locals lived, and extensive farmland So loaaaads of llamas, donkeys, pigs and sheep. The trail took you right beside the lake edge and also right up to the peak of the island mountains with magnificent views of Lake Titicaca and its surrounding landscapes of snow capped mountains and other islands.
We stopped along the way for lunch at this tiny cliff edge cafe and had soup overlooking the lake and Isla Del Sol's beautiful scenery. We continued our hike and reached the south within perfect timing to catch our boat back to Copacabana. It was a lovely lovely day with gorgeous views and I consider myself very lucky to have had the opportunity to go there. After a petty tiring day it was dinner and then bed, ready for our final hours in Bolivia the following morning.
