We got up and enjoyed our breakfast early today, we got a taxi to the airport and managed to get an earlier flight than we were booked for! This was a nice little unexpected lift and meant that we arrived in Bangkok about 11 an at the hotel at half 12! We checked in to our first hotel here, Wild Orchid but upgraded ourselves as a treat for our last night :( BOO! We are on the top floor and although a fair few staircases up its much quieter, bigger and has a little rooftop garden! Our mission today is to shop!! :) much to my delight! We went straight out for some street food and to scope out the stalls. I tried some chicken stomach on a skewer... but it was reallllly chewy and hard so i just ate the chicken breast instead! We saw some stuff on Khao San road and bought a couple of things we spied. However i also tried to buy a t shirt i wanted and haggle for a better price (cause £2 is too much!) After giving him two prices that he refused, he snatched the t-shirt out my hands and put it back!!!!!!! *@*:*@$**@:!!!! Very annoyed that the "land of smiles" motto clearly hadn't reached this stupid man i stormed off to one of the other 20 stalls that sell excatly the same t-shirts!!!! A bit later i encountered another woman who also hadn't heard this motto and was quite stroppy when i put something back in the wrong place! haha OCD isn't just a cultural thing it seems! :) We then grabbed a fruit shake each, i had lychee YUM!! we started back to the hotel as sean was moaning about shopping already! After freshening up we headed back out and wandered away from khao san to see what else was around! Not much it seemed so we just circled back and continued shopping!!! :) We picked at street foodand eventually sat and ate at a small cafe which had nice food and goo prices, we were sat by a tree and a man came out and played to us all on his strange but cool guitar! All was well untill ... we got up and payed the bill to turn and see the base of the tree alive with COCKROACHES!!! :O arrgg!!!! It was horrible and we jumped and squirmed at the sight of them, this was meet with hysterical laughter from one of the cafes' owner type people and she copied me and wet herself laughing!! LOL WE recovered ourselves and continued shopping...again! We headed back slowly buying along the way and came to the fish spa that we went to on our first night, we decided that it would be a nice idea (and goof for our feet) for a little treatment! It tickled just as much as the first time but left us nice and smooth! We then had a drink on the street and watched some thai boxing, ( bit brutal!) We then headed back to the room to catch some zzz's for the long journey home tomrrow! :( Sad to leave but looking forward to some home comforts! :D xxx
