Around 5pm on Monday Caitlin rang Vic saying she was having stomach pains and was finding it hard to breathe. 3 hours later (Caitlin's village is 3 hours away by matatou), the 3 of us were in The Surgery, whilst Caitlin was seen by a doctor.
We went back to the doctors Tuesday morning as Caitlin wasn't feeling any better and I had pus coming out of the scab on my kneecap!
Dr Stockley diagnosed Caitlin with a trap nerved within her chest and spine. And he decided to peel the scab off my knee and put on a honey dressing. That afternoon when I went to the toilet there was blood from my bum, just like last time. I was very worried, but the girls picked up my spirits and we went back to Bulenga and had a giggle at home, deciding to go to the doctors Wednesday morning.
The girls wanted to wait around for my appointment but I told them to head - Vic was going back to Caitlins project to help her pack, as Caitlin was leaving her project this week and carrying bags was a big nono! I told them I'd text them later. Anyway, Dr Stockley checked and there was bleeding inside, around the intestine and he did a full blood test checking for every area and he said the tests came back showing my blood count was normal in the sense of it wasn't high with paracite etc. He gave me some tablets for a paracite anyway and told me to come back within the week.
I took the 6 tablets and caught a boda back to Bulenga. Getting off the boda, I couldn't walk in a straight line, I was slurring my speech, I felt like I was off my face. Jane was very worried, it took some convincing that I honestly hadn't been drinking. I couldn't believe it was the tablets alone.
Thursday morning I woke feeling nauseous and had stomach cramps. All I wanted was a cup of tea, but that meant doing the charcoal stove and waiting atleast an hour and then there were other chores, I just couldn't do it. I decided I was going to stay in town and get my energy back and that brings us to today.
I stayed the night in town, relaxing and saw Dr Stockley this morning. Last time the blood wasn't regular and it seems to be the same again. Dr Stockley is keeping an eye on me and each time I see blood I must go in to see him. I asked if there was somewhere else I could go so I could get an answer to where the blood was coming from but he said he didn't trust anyone to perform such a procedure (looking high up inside with a camera) and to wait until I get back to England.
I've been feeling up and down all week, just like last time this happened and then I found blood. So speaking to my parents on the phone I made a very difficult decision to come back early. If my health suddenly gets worse then insurance will fly me home tomorrow but for now I can hold on these final weeks and I want to! So I'll be back July 27th 2010. I had a little cry when mum told me. My journey wasn't supposed to end this way but things happen for a reason. I think that means I have around 3 weeks and a few days until I leave.. Oh my that is not long!
Tonight everyone is going out for Oscars last night, as he leaves on Monday. I'm going to stay in Backpackers with Anna and will say goodbye to him in the morning, gutted not to be going out but nevermind.
But don't worry, I'm surrounded my great friends and Ugandans who keep me going. I'm good :)
Lots of Love from Uganda to you x x
