We had an early start this morning to repack our bags and check out of our villa, we left our bags there and walked back down to the V&A waterfront for our Robben Island trip, we had a beautiful day for it although it was still cool.
The boat ride took 45min to Robben Island we were then put onto a bus with a tour guide who took us around the islad showing us the medium security prison, the town where the guards stayed and the quarries wheret he prisoners worked.
A former politcal prisoner then walked us through the maximum security prison explaining what prison life was like for him.
It was a sobering trip but I was glad to see they don't use Robben Island as a symbol of apartheid but as a lesson that the world has learnt from.
The Robben Island trip took a lot longer than we expected so unfortunately we ran out of time to get up Table Mountain.
We headed back to the villa and picked up our bags before making our way to Saasveld Lodge to meet the rest of our tour group. There are 17 of us in our group - 5 couples including Nick & I plus 7 single women, so I'll be in good company when Nick leaves me in Vic Falls. We met with Geaorge out tour leader and Simon our cook.
Two of the other couples were from NZ so we had plenty to talk about while we completed all the paperwork, after all the formalties were completed Nick and I headed back to Arnolds for another tasty dinner.
