Sorry i havent updated it in a while, ive been busy putting just photos on, i wanted to get straight with them before i wrote about what i did, so now i can explain what iv been busy doing.
So after rollerbalding around Mission Bay in Auckland on Sunday and having Joels birthday cake for breakfast on Monday we headed off on a LONG car journey to a place called hot water beach. its along the East coast of NZ and is pretty special. There are patches on the beach where if you dig just a few inches you'll find really really hot water. like it was too hot to sit in. We started diggin too soon so the tide kept coming and washing away our hole. but that was good because you just couldnt stand in it as it was too hot. id be jumping up and down on my tiptoes so my feet wouldnt get burnt. everyone was very teritorial about their patch of sand, was funny to watch, we didnt care that much and gave our hole up as it was too hot. other families and loads of kids ran over to take our hole.
The next day we carried on to a place called Rotorua. now this place is full of geothermal activity. we'd already seen plenty of volcanoes and geysers in chile so wernt bothered about them. Tried to organise white water rafting but the rain meant the river was too high and so it got cancelled. we checked out some geysers in the local park. holes would open up in the ground all over the place, you could see where new ones had recently opened up becasue temporary fencing was put up around them.steam everywhere and the town stank of rotten eggs from all the sulphur.
The first evening me and my parents went to see a mauri concert (the natives of NZ) we had a hangi which is the traditional cooked food , mainly sweet potatoes which i love!!! They showed us typical dances and war weapons and games they play. was really interesting and bizarre.
As our rafting was cancelled we figured wed move on not to waste time so our next stop was lake Taupo.....
