Hello guys,
How are you? We arrived in Zurich this morning at 10.00 after a very rough nights sllep on the train. It was something different we had both never been on a night train, was good at first until we needed to sleep. We had about 2 to 3 hrs of good sleep the rest was very broken, thanks to guards checking our passports twice, a sniffer dog and a Spanish Dude that insisted on rabbiting on at half past 6!!!!!! SO ANNOYING! They´re really hot on checking passports and really didn´t expect a sniffer dog at 7.00am when were still half asleep and having to get our bags and sleeping bags together double quick for the dog to check.
He was a cool and well behaved dog tho.
When we arrived at Zurich (Em tired and stroppy) we found the trams really hard to get used too - especially as its German speaking here and neither of us know any. Once we finally found the hostel (slightly out of town), we decided to go back into town and have a wonder. The lake is amazing - Dan completely flabbergasted by it, bless him! Its amazing to see a huge lake in the middle of a large city, its as far as you can see. Whilst admiring the views, a lady approached us asking if we were part of a tour, we weren´t. She then waffled on about loads of things in a strong German accent but gave us some sound advice - like how the Maffia stole paintings from a museum and it was the talk of the town, then about how museums are free on Wed and then - the best bit - how short changing was a "National Sport" and to always check your change and be very careful. We laughed a lot about that. We took her advice and went to the free museum, was an art museum, and some great pieces in it, worth a visit.
We had a `Bratwurts` each that was quite nice actually, its bit like a really nice frankfurter with better bits in.
We poodled about a bit longer and got the tram back to the hostel. Its like a hotel! Its really modern and clean, and well worth the money - best one so far we´ve stayed in. its the first chance we got to do bit of washing didn,t quite go to plan tho, oh well its still clean and smells fresh.
We're probs gonna have a look round the city again tomorrow.
Speak to you soon
