18th August ok yes i know i said i last entry, i was definatly hung over. our travelling started with us nearly missing the shuttle bus into port to catch our ferry off this evil drunken island at 11.00 am (remember that). then funny enough because we didnt want to wait in line to get onto our ferry, we nearly missed our ferry, realising that we were looking at the wrong line. bolting for the ferry and then laughing our heads off knowing that we would have had to stay another night and for out at least 80 euro for another ferry ride. 4 hours on this ferry from ios to athens. then stacey doing a really quick lap around athens town to buy a camera we found on special at santorini. caught 2 trains to another train station to miss our train to patras by no more then 10 minutes. s***. ok so we got into a cab, he drove us to the bus station to get onto the bus to take us to patras. we actually caught this bus. 3 hours later we arrive into patras to catch our ferry at midnight. luckily we could board ship at 9.30pm so we did when we could to get ourselves a good floor position. fell asleep nearly as soon as we got onto the ferry only to be woken up around 8 am by another group of people boarding from Corfu. keeping our guard up because we didnt want anyone to invade our floor and lylows we stuck around for abit longer. the day was spent watching i think nearly every sport on the olympics including equestrian, planning the next part of my travels to southern spain and portugal, eating because i do that so well, playing cards and updating my blog. holy crap what a long freakin day. just a reminder we are still on the ferry to venice. ok another sleep over on the boat and we once again got woken up by screaming kids that i would love to strangle. because there were people everywhere, i mean literally everywhere. it was absolute carnage, people sleeping in the corridors, alley ways, under the stairs, and every corner possible. there were a million and one people rushing off the ferry. we had some time to spare so we waited around till the crowed disappeared and then followed behind them. the bus port was a huge distance away so we caught the luggage train (the trailers you see carrying all the luggage to the planes) cause it was too far away ahahah and we were the only ones on it, silly italians waited hours for the shuttle bus. then i think we had to walk i think maybe 1 kilometer up hill with our back packs of course. then we found luggage storage because i wanted to have one final walk around venice. got to st marco square and once again not waring the right clothing to go into cathedrals so we had to cover ourselves up with clothes that we had to buy for 50 cents each, we later sold them to people waiting in line for 1 euro each ahahahahahah suckers. walked back to get our bags from storage to wait over an hour to get the shuttle bus to a camping ground for a well deserved sleep. buuuuut finding out the date on the shuttle bus and realizing we missed the busabout bus that was today and realizing we need to be in rome today, holy s***, scammed a shower at the camping ground to then get on the next shuttle to go back to venice town. missing the earlier train by i recon 3 minutes we had to wait around for an hour and a half to get on the next direct train to rome. ok ok ok ok update on travels. left ios at 11 am in the 18th ferry for 4 hours to athens, train, train, taxi, bus from athens for patras for 3 hours, ferry from patras for 36 hours to venice, luggage train, massive walk, bus, bus then train from venice to rome for 5 hours. arrive in rome at 11.30 on the 20th at night to walk to our hostel that i think is like 800 meters away. you do the math on how loge i have traveled forHOLY s***TY CRAP s***. i love back packing but seriously i think this is a f***en joke. up early for another attempt for the vatican city tomorrow. i hope i wake upBUS-FERRY-TRAIN-TRAIN-TAXI-BUS-FERRY-LUGGAGE TRAIN-HIKE-BUS-BUS-TRAIN-HIKEi would love to hear anyone elses killer travel stories cause that was definatly a freaken joke.
