8th august that morning we waited for the shuttle bus to take us into town to catch our ferry to santorini. the suttle bus was seriously over crowded. legally i think 10 can fit in there. i definatly think there was over 20 people crammed into this shuttle bus including all their back packs and suitcases. there were peoples arses hanging out the window and 2 people sharing the same lap so we waited for the next one. didnt take much to convince us to wait around. once we got into port we sat ourselves and waited for our ferry. saw the biggest souvlaki piece of meat i have ever seen and the worst personal hygiene to go with it from the owner. rubbing it like it was his pride and joy and licking his fingers after each rub. and i can tell you his stomach showed he ate waaaaaay too much souvlaki, i should know, his shirt was off too!!! arrived in santorini, checked into our new kennel, another shack, tent kind of thing with 2 beds and then had our orientation around the town. stairs everywhere and people galore. some serious shopping to do here. did a grocerie run and finally brought a new camera. another shock and waterproof camera for a fraction of the price we saw it in paros!!! yaaaaay so excited, now this one is never gonna leave my side.in the morning up early to do an amazing tour of santorini. this old fashioned greek boat took us out to the dormit volcano that is no more then a kilometer away from the main land that blew half the island apart in the 1950s. pretty amazing, to see the different coloured rocks because the lava cooled at different times, pretty cool. the boat then took us to a hot sping, which was really only luke warm but we were told about a mud pit so we swam out into it and covered ourselfves in mud. wow what an experience. sailed back to the main land and hired donkeys to get up the massive mountain of santorini. over 700 huge step that i know if i scaled would ake me forever. the funniest thing i think i have done in a long time and to laugh with stacey on the next ass behind me, holy crap i was in stitches. poor eeyor up and down the mountain. no wonder tigger and pooh kept tryin to cheer eeyor up constantly. after all that stinky excitement back for a siesta then up again for a walk to just catch the sunset and to walk around the streets of ssantorini at night, checked out some of the bars but it was getting way too expensive so we called it a night.the next couple of days were spent riding a quad bike around the island. on our journies we say the red beach, black beach, white beach, scaled the city of ancient thira and saw breath taking views of the other side of santorini. the next 2 nights we rode the quad bike to Oia with a picnic dinner, made absolute fools of each other making funny photos with the sunset. absolutly breathtaking but seriously we have amazing sunsets at home, but for some reason the sunsets in santorini pulls way more of a crowd every night, as soon as the sun set people would clap and to get out of the city was like getting out of a concert. people everywhere. defianalty need some sort of bike to get around this island. buses are way too much of a pain in the arse. santorini is definalty so far my favourite island, the scenery is amazing, coloured housed on the side of a volcano mountain looking out over the sea with great food and awesome beaches. great shopping, what else do i need. could definalty do with a few more nights on this island. loved it, absolutely loved it!!! leave for Ios tomorrow.
