First day! It was easier and more straightforward getting the train and Eurostar than we expected. The rucksacks were heavy though! When we got to Brussels we decided it would be easiest to get a taxi to the hotel, so we joined a queue and waited. We got the craziest driver there!! He immediately told us how it is illegal to drive whilst on the phone, but you CAN legally play the flute while driving. He literally talked non stop in broken English amid loud laughs. I took on the role of saying 'really?' And 'wow', and laughing too, whilst Paul stared awkwardly out of the window. We pulled up to a red traffic light, and the driver got out a massive flute and put Adele on full blast. He continued to play the Adele song on the flute! Meanwhile the light had turned green (don't forget we're in the middle of capital city, and cars are going mental). He then drove whilst playing it! Eventually we got to the hotel, it cost €20 and took 20 minutes to travel 2.1 miles.
The hotel is split into two, and we are over the road from the main part - so it is like we have an apartment. The room is cheap and cheerful (with a lovely dark olive green carpet, and open plan bathroom)! We have a balcony and to the left is a brilliant view of a huge statue. The wifi is a bit rubbish but that's not the end of the world!
In the evening we went towards the Grand Place but came across a busy square. We both had a waffle with Nutella and sat on a curb and listened to a couple of lads playing music. They covered passengers 'let her go'! Then we wandered back to the hotel and went to bed. Long day!
