Ellie's Project

Well I am doing a day care centre with a girl called Fiona. Our job is basically to try and educate the kids while the teacher (for some unknown reason) has a months break! On the first day we did actually make the mistake of going to the wrong centre and had a morning of fun with a load of random kids, but the teacher didnt look surprised to see us so we thought it was fine....until we got back and it turned out the idex staff had been looking for us haha. Anyway the next day we managed to get ourselves to the right place and we are in a place called Utorda, in a little room with a gas cooker and one desk, very basic. not even a chair! The kids are so young, they can barely even talk their own language, so its really really hard. Its fun though and we both get ridiculously excited when one of them draws a wobbly letter A on their blackboard! Mainly we just have to play games with them because they are too tiny to understand anything. Old Macdonald had a farm went down a treat! they are all quite violent and not used to sharing, so any toys we have cause huuuge problems and a lot of kicking! Theyre really nice children though, they just havent been brought up in the same way. Lots of them just want cuddles and are very cute.

Afternoons at the orphanage were so frustrating to start with but getting better, I am now working with such a lovely little girl called Benecia and we just do maths and english homework. Afterwards we can play for a bit, and today me and vicky were rewared with some pieces of sweaty kit kat and a crisp each! the girls are all so clever and can talk perfect english, such a contrast to the mornings!

Anyway in general having such a good time and will keep you updated on what is to come!
