Finally!! A smooth running morning with no issues! Our taxi turned up on time and took us to the airport, we checked in without having to wait in any lines and waited for our flight! Today we all
Separate! Just in time I think - a month with the same 5 people, 24/7 can tend to be very challenging at times! When we arrived at the airport Simon, Erin and I booked a shuttle to take us to hotels because we were staying very close together! Simon and I are staying in the most amazing location! We are minutes from the beach, straight off Las Ramblas in a room with a balcony that overlooks the street. Our room is perfect, the bathroom is really clean and the staff are so friendly! As soon as we put our things down we walked straight to the beach for lunch and a swim! We went to a little cafe off the beach and had some tapas and paella! While we were eating we ran in to Judy and Lachy from our Topdeck tour and organised to have dinner. There are quite a few people from Topdeck in Barcelona at the moment! After lunch we went straight to the beach! The weather was perfect! It was hot, but the ocean breeze made it perfect! I sunbaked and Simon went for a swim. He definitely didn't choose the best place to swim because when he dived in and surfaced a nappy floated past him ha ha ha!! In just a few hours our tans were even darker! It was amazing! :) After a few hours we went back to our hostel to get ready for dinner. We walked down Las Ramblas to meet
Everyone at the Christopher Columbus statue! From Topdeck there was Erin, Mitch, Ben, Kate, Lachy and Judy! We all met and wandered along the seaside until we came to a nice Chinese restaurant where we had dinner! After dinner we went looking for a bar. Walking along the sidewalk we found a travel bar! Everyone was from the UK or Australia! We got free shots and really cheap cocktails! Unfortunately, Erin got some really bad news from home about her Pa passing away, so we kept her company and bought her some red and white roses! The bar had trivia and we decided to enter a team - after all it was free. Towards the end the man announced that the prize was 60€ or an expenses paid trip to running with the bulls! That got everyone motivated!! Towards the end of the game I had realised that one of the teams were the staff so it became obvious that they would win! Of course that was the case, but because we caught them out they gave us free tickets!! In order for us to go we'd have to move our flight back a day so we don't know what to do! I met a girl, Chrissy from Texas who was playing trivia as well. We got talking and she had a friend who lived in Barcelona for 2 years and told her about a local bar where all the students drink that is really cheap. I asked if our group could come along with them! We all set out to find this bar! I am so sad that I will never be able to find it again! It was off Las Ramblas down an alley, off another and in a random place that didn't look like anything was there. It had the best sangria. Simon and I both don't usually enjoy the taste, but this was amazing!! They 3.5L
Jugs of sangria or beer for only 20€! We had formed a group of 12 and ordered 2 jugs + pints! We had so much to drink! We all decided to play drinking games - we had to be quite! It was strange how quite you had to be! We played a game called spirit fingers. I was horrible at it! I should know not to sit near Simon during drinking games! We stayed until closing! When we were leaving I took the wrong exit and went to walk out the staff only door which set off an alarm - oops! I quickly turned around and went to the next door and walked out ha ha. I don't think security were too impressed with us all as everyone left singing American pie and Born in the USA to help the Americans celebrate their 4th of July. I felt like I was in a secret bar! You had to be so quite. The minute you started to get loud security would come over and tell you to be quite! It was cool - it all added to the experience! Finally, our night came to an end at 4:30am. We said our goodbyes and wandered back to our hostel for a very big sleep in! It was by far the best night out of the whole trip so far. We had the most amazing night!! :)
