We left the Snake Park for two days of travel to get us to Zanzibar. From Arusha we had a stop in Moshi which offers a look at Kilimanjaro. Kilimanjaro stands at 5895m tall with an ice cap. Unfortunately due to cloud cover we didn't get a good look at the near symmetrical cone shape of the mountain. The ice cap did peak out for a few photos though. We drove of for the rest of the day to our next camp-site. Neither of us can remember the town name where we stayed...

Our camp-site for the night was in the Serengeti, with no fences. We were warned to keep our tents far enough apart that an elephant could walk through and reminded of the procedure for a night time toilet break. Despite being low season there was at least 100 people at the camp-site, I suspect that this generally scares animals away as no one heard an animal let alone had a close call. We were the last group to arrive at the camp-site and the first ones to leave...

The day started out early in the mist and cold. A short drive took us to the top of Ngorongoro crater. As we drove inside and to a lower altitude, the rim is at about 2400m, we could start to see the grazing animals on the base of the crater. We had another sleep in as our 4wds to take us to Ngorongoro were not leaving until 3pm. We spent most of the morning wasting time at the local shopping centre. And it was a real waste of time as we had already stopped in the day before for supplies. 20th April - We stayed the night at the same camp-site in Naivasha which isn't too far from Nairobi so we had the luxury of a bit of a sleep in. We drove back to Nairobi and said goodbye to much of the group and meet the some of the new people joining.
