There havn't been too many exciting events in the last couple of weeks to report (except for helping to butcher a cow, but I don't think most people would like to hear all the gory details from that) and so I thought I'd run you through a typical day for me.
Wake up at 6am, grumble about how early it is. Get dressed and go have some breakfast. Get greeted by Bruce's booming-and-far-too-happy-for-this-early voice, saying something along the lines of 'EMILY! HOW ARE YA? IT'S ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY!' If he's lucky he will get a vaguely comprehensible response... Go and feed the animals. Fill horses water trough (there are 2 in the paddock around the house at the moment, one with an injured foot and his mum to keep him company!) Feed and water the 4 goats, push one of their heads back through the fence as they always manage to get their horns stuck. Walk to cattle yards, feed the 3 Maremma pups that are tied there. Water the pumpkin patch. Draft the 200 weaners to separate the ones that are ill (with some kind of stomach bug). Help Bruce to wrestle a tablet down them. Catch 3 horse and lead them back to the house. Saddle up horses. Lead out the weaners to their feeding paddock with Bruce and the working dogs. Trot for twenty minutes to one of the water tanks (have a staring competition with an emormous roo along the way). Wait for Bruce to come on his motorbike. Round up 15 or so cattle and walk them back to the yards. Go and cut up some meat and salad for lunch, call Bruce when its ready. Do some housework whilst Bruce goes to do some other job. Empty the freezer with the freshly butchered cow in and mix everything up to make sure it's freezing properly. Go and get my horse again, and attmept to lead the 200 weaners back to the yard by myself. Get angry at them as they don't want to cooperate. Two hours later finnally manage to shut them in the yards. Unsaddle mine and Bruce's horse and lead them down to be let out. Have a competition with the 2 horses in the paddock that also want to come. Help Bruce get a motorbike on the back of the hilux. Go have a shower, get dinner ready, then go and read before going to bed. Sleep like a log!

Julia Blimey, I won't run through a typical day for me then as your project is clearly where the hard work is at. Life in south africa is pretty awesome - hope you're keeping up with my blog too - and i'm having a great time. Its still pretty warm but we get heavy rain every now and again so i think you'll win the tanned competition when we finally meet up again. When you getting back to the UK? Hope all is good love ju xxx
