The past 3 days have been an incredible experience. There are hundreds of different boat experiences you can go on, and we chose the SV Whitehaven, which is an Eco Safari boat. On the first day and a half we were not so lucky with the weather, pretty windy and some reaaaallyy heavy rain but it made the sailing experience all the more exciting! However we soon got our sea legs and the weather cleared half way through the trip, which really transformed the beautiful colours of the water! Our days were filled with sailing, snorkelling and kayaking and the crew took us to all the good spots to see the massive fish. It was amazing to see all the different types of wildlife living in the coral, it felt like I'd swam right into the world of Finding Nemo! In the evenings after we'd eaten dinner, the leftovers were given to the fishies. It was so weird feeding them just as you would feed ducks. After dark the scenery didn't get any less spectacular. I have never seen so many stars in my life, and Marlin the deckhand, and Dave the captain pointed out all the different planets and constellations.
On the second day we stopped off at the famous Whitehaven beach. We walked up to the lookout and could see right out over the bay - white sand and very very blue seas. We spent the afternoon on the beach, giving ourselves a spa treatment with the sand - once again I created a sand mask for my face. On the last day we got the chance to swim with wild sea turtles. Earlier on the trip we'd been lucky enough to see a green turtle, which is the largest species swim by the boat but not actually be in the water with them. It took a while to find one, the water was pretty murky but eventually one of the boys spotted a turtle hiding within the coral. It was really well camouflaged but you could make out it's head and one flipper. We stayed with it a while hoping for it to make an appearance but no such luck unfortunately. Still an incredible experience.
