Santa Barbara pit-stop!
En route to San Francisco (don't call it Frisco in front of the locals whatever you do!) we called to Santa Barbara for 3nights and stayed with relatives from back home.
Just a 2.5 hr journey by bus from Hollywood, which flew by, loved the scenery along the coast as we were approaching Santa Barbara, proper California beach and sun shine-lush!!
We were met by my relation off the bus and driven thru the town on a quick tour, through State St (main street-lovely!) and to the end of the pier, which was absolutely gorgeous and home to seaside restaurants and huge Herons that looked like they could gobble ya up!
We had a lovely home cooked meal that night (we had a craving for that as there is only so much take out ya can handle!) and got ready for the next day of activities!
Woke up nice and early and Pat, our guide for the day as we called him, took us up to the Mission for a tour. It was very peaceful and beautiful surroundings with lovely gardens and steeped in history..
Next we drove back into town for lunch which Pat treated us too, i had tasty Portobello Mushroom Raviolli and Adam tucked into a Cornbread Salad..plus we polished off a Peach and Cherry Crunchy Bake for afters..yum yum!!
We wandered around the main street and pier again until 7ish and then went out for dinner, love the food here as there is lots of Mexican influences! The architecture of the seaside town is beautiful, spanish inspired and covered with Palm trees..Adam wants to move here now!
Our last day, friday, we had a lazy morning then caught bus into town-took an hour to fine right bus stop but we did it! Had a starbucks in town, did a bit of shopping and had the biggest Burritos you have ever seen in Sandbank Bar and a couple Margaritas..delish!
Next morning, we had a hearty brekkie in us and set off for San francisco, 8hours travel in total by train and bus but the views on the way were fabulous!
Arrived in San Francisco at 7pm on sat 23rd and the next leg of the adventure begins..!
