dzasta travels
The end of tour 1 and only 16 days to go.
The meals were OK but not great. Packet soup and a big slurp of chilli sauce in everything is not cheffy. 10 lunches were make your own at 6am. They supply polony, salad and stale bread and expect you to make sandwiches and then eat soggy sambo's for lunch. The few times we had meat it was soo over cooked it was like old boot leather.
Water was supplied bu way of drums filled along the way and the water treated. It tasted bad but was the only alternative. Only problem was it was stored under the truck so I was continually asking for them to get the water out.
The camp sites were mostly clean, with a few exceptions. They were also mostly sand with no grass to put your tent on. There were a few outstanding for cleanliness and a few standouts for the opposite. All the campsites were in the middle of nowhere so once you were set up you were a captive audience and couldn't go anywhere to look around. Putting up the tent didn't bother me, I expected that, the mattresses were a bit thin. What I didn't expect everyday was the chores. The permanent chores and the rotating chores added up to about 2hr a day and I am supposed to be on 'holiday'. And don't even get me started on flapping.
It wasn't 24 days of hell. I had 1 really cool day and 3 OK days, and a whole lotta hell in between.
Would I do another tour? Probably not in my lifetime!
Would I do another Intrepid tour? Not if my life depended on it!!
